NEW YORK, NY — Two days after Greta Thunberg landed in New York City, youth leaders will strike outside the United Nations tomorrow, Friday, August 30th at 11am. Later Friday evening, and Saturday afternoon, youth strikers, community members, and climate activists will hold the first in a series of art builds toward the September 20th youth-led climate strikes.
In coordination with the Global Climate Strikes and week for climate action, the September 20th NYC strike will kick-off at noon in Foley Square, followed by a march and rally in Battery Park.

WHO: Youth climate leaders, community activists, and climate groups will be joined by over 60 groups endorsing the youth climate strikes at the art build.
WHY: In just three weeks, in coordination with September 20th Global Climate Strikes, New York City youth climate strikers will lead an mutligenerational, multiracial strike to demand action and responsibility from decision-makers to frontline communities and young people. The youth strikers are demanding no fossil fuels, a just transition, and that polluters be held accountable. Nearly 60 organizations have already endorsed the youth strikes, and are part of a diverse community of collaborators and leaders in catalyzing action on climate change.
VISUALS: Youth climate organizers, adult mentors, and community members will collaborate on making parachutes, banners, and posters for the upcoming strikes.
